Respect for the beauty of the natural environment, an important theme
of Japanese art and culture, is reflected in the naturalistic setting created by ZEN Associates.

We work closely with our clients throughout the design process to achieve an understanding of their goals and to express them in the design.

At the beginning of the process, an analysis is completed of existing
site conditions including site context, views, sun and shadow patterns, topography, soil composition, and plantings. Design concepts are formulated and refined, incorporating the technical requirements for implementation, such as grading, erosion control, or recirculation of water systems. These technical aspects of the project, although invisible in the completed project, are critical to its success.
